Fieldwork Our students will experience fieldwork in a variety of healthcare contexts, including public health clinics, nursing homes, and other community settings. You will also have an opportunity to pursue a concentrated study of a dental-related topic of your choice through your senior capstone project.

During senior year, students will rotate through approximately 15 different fieldwork rotation sites. We want our students to experience different environments than just our clinic setting. Pacific University’s commitment to underserved populations allows our students the opportunity to provide oral hygiene services and education to community members of all types. From HIV patients, migrant farmworkers, elderly residents in senior centers, and children from low-income families, our students are learning how to care for a diverse patient population.

Dental Hygiene Clinic At our state-of-the-art 16-chair clinic, students will develop their dental hygiene clinical skills and learn to provide comprehensive, patient-centered dental hygiene care. The clinic provides preventive dental hygiene services to the community, with special emphasis on patients who have limited access to dental care. Students first practice skills using teaching manikins and student partners; they then move on to providing dental hygiene services to patients in our on-campus clinic.
