Financing Your Future

Our students typically rely on a combination of savings and financial aid to finance the investment. Limiting your borrowing now, however, will be of immense financial benefit later. The following information will be helpful when making your plans.

Tuitions and Costs

Financial Aid Programs Pacific University students typically finance their professional educations through current income, personal savings and financial aid sources such as employment, grants, loans and scholarships. If you plan to seek financial aid, it is important to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

FAFSA  Submit this form to the federal government as soon as possible after October 1. We advise students to file their FAFSA on the Department of Education’s website at studentaid.gov, which provides detailed instructions and built-in error checking. Be sure to list Pacific University (Federal School Code 003212) as a school to receive your FAFSA data.

Director’s Scholarships  Director’s scholarships are awarded for the first year of the Dental Hygiene program. The number and the amount of scholarships awarded vary.

Federal Work-Study  Work-study funds allow eligible students to work on campus or in the community. Indicate your interest in these funds when filling out the FAFSA. Your FAFSA must be processed before March 1 to be eligible for work-study funds.

Federal Loans  Federal loans are available to United States citizens and eligible noncitizens who are enrolled at least half-time in a degree program at Pacific University. Eligibility is determined by the information you provide on the FAFSA. A Repayment Estimator is available at studentaid.gov.

Subsidized Federal Direct Loan  Eligibility for the subsidized Federal Direct Loan is based on financial need, as determined by the information submitted on the FAFSA. The loan principal is deferred, and the government pays the interest on the loan while borrowers are enrolled at least half-time.

Unsubsidized Federal Direct Loan  The unsubsidized Federal Direct Loan is available to students who file the FAFSA and meet general federal student aid eligibility requirements, regardless of financial need. The loan principal may be deferred, but interest accrues once the loan is disbursed.

What Happens Next  After being admitted and receiving your FAFSA data, our Financial Aid Office will design a financial aid package based on your needs to help ensure the best possible financial assistance. For questions about budgeting, financial aid, repayment or other financial concerns, please contact our Financial Aid Office.

You can add up the numbers and count the costs of a professional education on paper. The value of that investment, however, lies in fulfilling life work, rich professional relationships and serendipitous opportunities. These are inestimable.
